On May 20, 2021, NASA announced the winners of their Watts On the Moon Centennial Challenge. We won! The KC Space Pirates have been awarded a prize of $50,000 for our proposed laser power beaming solution. We are going to spend the summer working though our ideas and helping create the rules for Phase 2, which will be released in August. We would like to thank our patrons and families for all their support over the years.

The KC Space Pirates have returned from Davy Jones's Locker to once again compete in a NASA competition. This time, we have chosen the "Watts on the Moon" Challenge with $5,000,000 in prize monies available. The similarities to what we did in the NASA Power Beaming Challenge made this competition irresistible. Transmit power 1 km to a robot - been there, done that. Captain Brian Turner has put together a crew of experts and they are working on their Phase 1 submissions now.
